Biography of Mao Ohuabunwa; Senator; Politician; Microbiologist; Abia State Celebrity.

Senator Mao Arukwe Ohuabunwa was born in May 1957 in the old Rivers State. He is an indigene of Abia State.

He is from a very large family, comprising 10 males and 2 females. His parents were both into
business and they supported all their children in their educational pursuit.

Senator Mao Ohuabunwa had his Primary School education at Orevo State School, he later proceeded to Enitona High School and later to the College of Science and Technology, PortHarcourt from there to Rivers State University of Science and Techology where he  bagged a degree in Applied Biology and majored in Microbiology. Senator Ohuabunwa went further to obtain his masters in Human Resource Management.

Senator Ohuabunwa thereafter went into business by setting up a medical laboratory and also went into the distribution, importation and sales of laboratory medical equipment, chemicals and reagents.
He later started a diagnostic centre in Gongola called St.Marsons Diagnostic Limited and had branches in Yola, Jalingo, Portharcourt, Lagos and Abuja.

In 1997, Senator Ohuabunwa decided to leave business and get into full time Politics. Hence in 1998, he decided to run for the Federal house of Representatives under the UNCP  but unfortunately due to the death of Abacha, the election was inconclusive.

He again contested in the 1999 elections under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) and was successful. He became the first person to represent both Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency.  Senator Ohuabunwa was then elected the Deputy leader of the house.

Senator Ohuabunwa was in the House of Representatives for two tenures of 4years each. And while there he attracted a lot of development to his constituency in the areas of water, good roads, electricity and Education.

In the 2015 Senatorial Elections, he contested for the Abia North Senatorial seat and won.

  1. Why this lie lie? Attracted which developments? If the state of Ohafia/Arochukwu road is good development, may such development visit your family and village. To you Oga wey dem dey praise. That road is a shame to you. After this years of representing, you cannot push for the road to be fixed. Posterity won't forget you. Truthfully, Ohu abu nwa.
