Biography of Aisha Jummai Al-Hassan; Minister of Women Affairs

Aisha Jummai Al-Hassan was born in 1959. She is an indigene of
Taraba State. She was a former Senator representing Taraba North constituency of Taraba State, a position she won under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

She later defected to All Progressive Congress (APC) and was the Governorship Candidate of Taraba State for the 2015 general elections.  She was however defeated in the election re-run held on 25th of April 2015 and thereby failed to become Nigeria’s first female democratically elected Governor.

A Politician and lawyer of great repute, Aisha Jummai  Al-Hassan was the former Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, of Taraba State. She was appointed the Chief Registrar of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja on 17 December 2003. 

Aisha was later appointed the Minister of Women Affairs by President Muhammadu Buhari
