Hon. Balarabe Salame Abdullahi was born on March 5,1961. He is an indigene of 
Sokoto State.  He is a member of the Federal House of Representative representing Gwadabawa / Illela Federal Constituency.

He attended L.E.A. Primary School, Salame, Gwadabawa Local Government, where he obtained his first school leaving certificate in 1975. He then proceeded to Giginya Memorial College, Sokoto where he did part of his secondary education. He continued at College of Arts and Islamic Studies, Sokoto where he finished from in 1981. In 1985, he obtained a National Certificate of Education (NCE) in Arabic from Shehu Shagari College of Education. He then obtained  Diploma certificates at Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto and Sokoto State Polytechnic in 2003 and 2005 respectively in Computer Science . In 1990, he attended the Usman Danfodio University where he obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Arabic,  got his Masters in 2002 in Islamic Studies and obtained his Doctorate in 2010 in Islamic Studies.

It is worthy to note that prior to joining politics, he was a Head Master/Primary school Teacher  from 1977 to 1985; Teacher/ Head of Islamic Studies Department: Government Secondary School,(Augie, Kware and Wurno.). He worked with the  Ministry of Education, Sokoto State from 1985 to 1991; Senior Lecturer/ Head of Department: Arabic Medium Department, Shehu Shagari College of Education Sokoto from  1991 to 2007; Councillor for Education and Social Development: Gwadabawa Local Government Caretaker committee from  1994 to 1995; Amir al-Hajj/ Leader of Government Delegation: Hajj Operation, Sokoto State in 2008; he was Acting Governor of Sokoto State in 2008 when the then Governor, Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko’s election was annulled, and he held the position until Wamakko was returned after a fresh election.; he was Chairman, Local Organising Committee, (LOC): National Qur'anic Recitation Competition,  Sokoto State in 2010; Treasurer: National Speakers Conference  Northern Speakers Forum from 2009 to 2011; he was the Speaker: Sokoto State House of Assembly from  2007 to 2011; Exco Member: Common Wealth Parliamentary Association, Pan African Region from  2010 to 2011.

In the 2011 elections, he contested for and was elected as a Honourable Member of the Federal House of Representatives.

In the 2015 elections, he again re-contested for the Federal House of Representative representing Gwadabawa / Illela Federal Constituency under the platform of the All Progressive Congress(APC) and won.

He has as his Legislative Interests; Education, Water, Roads, Health, Electricity, Security and Social Development. He Targets to make sure development reaches everywhere in the country.

He has received some awards and honours including the Sarkin Yakin Salame by s/arewan salame in 2012,  Democracy Award by who is who in Nigeria in 2011,  African Merit Award for Integrity by Leadtime African Magazine,  Honorary Special Marshal by FRSC in  2010,  Pan African Legacy of Patrioticism Award for Excellence in 2010 by Pan-Media Africa.
