Hon. Goni Lawan Bukar was born in 1965. He is an indigene of Yobe State. He is a member of the Federal House of
Representatives representing Bursari/Geidam/Yunusari federal Constituency.

He attended Ramat Polytechnic where he obtained a Higher National Diploma (H.N.D) in  Business  Administration in 2007.

Prior to being a member of the house of representatives, he has worked at different government establishments and held some political positions. For example from 1988 to 1991, he was a  class teacher. From 1996 to 1999 he was a board member of Yobe State- Library-State Hotel.

From 1991 to 2003 he served as a member of the Yobe State House of Assembly.  He was thereafter appointed the Honourable Commissioner for Lands from  2003 to 2007.

He got elected as a member house of representative from 2007  to 2011. He got re-elected from 2011 to 2015 under the platform of the All Nigerian Peoples Party(ANPP).

In the 2015 elections, he was again re-elected into the Federal House of Representatives to represent Bursari/Geidam/Yunusari Federal Constituency Under the platform of the All Progressive Congress(APC).
