Biography of Joseph Edionwele

JOSEPH EDIONWELE was born to the family of Edionwele of Idumu-Ogo of Iruekpen, Esan West Local Government Area of Edo state in 1960. He is a member of the Federal House of Representatives, representing the Esan Central/West/Igueben Federal Constituency of Edo State, under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He attended Central Primary School, Iruekpen, after which he got admission into Ujoelen Grammar School Ekpoma and obtained West African School Certificate in 1979. In the year 1982, he obtained Ordinary National Diploma Certificate from Auchi Polytechnic. Auchi Polytechnic also gave him Higher National Diploma Certificate when he graduated from the institution in 1985, having studied Accountancy.

Joseph Edionwele started his career with Union Bank, where he worked briefly before he was employed at Nigeria Institute for Palms Oil Research (NIFOR), Benin City where he rose to the office of Chief Accountant. Between 1999 and 2002, he was the Executive Chairman of Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State.  A year later, he was appointed as a 1st member at Edo State Local Government Service Commission. Upon completion of his tenure there, he was elected as the Secretary to the Peoples Democratic Party, South-South  Zone. Before this period, he served as a member of National Orthopedic Hospital Enugu, Nigeria. He was also an Editor-In-Chief of TORCH MAGAZINE.

Joseph Edionwele was later elected into the Federal House of Representatives where he represents the Esan Central/West/Igueben Federal Constituency of Edo State, under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
