Awaji Abiante
Hon. Awaji-Inombek Dagomie Abiante was born in 1967. He is an indigene of Rivers
State. He is a member of the Federal House of Representatives, representing the Andoni/Opobo/Nkoro Federal constituency of Rivers State under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He attended Community Secondary School, where he obtained his West African School Certificate. He then proceeded to the University of Science and Technology and the University of Nigeria where he obtained his Bachelor’s degree.

Prior to becoming a member of the House of Representative, he was Special Adviser to Rivers State Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) Chairman from 2000 to 2003. From 2003 to 2006, he was a Personal Aide to the Minister of Transport. Between 2013 and 2014, he was Special Adviser to the Rivers State Representaive of NDDC.

In the 2015 elections, he contested for a seat in the Federal House of Representatives to represent Andoni/Opobo/Nkoro federal Constituency and won.


It is worthy to note that he has as his Legislative Interests Maritime, NDDC, Environmental, Agriculture, Science and Technology and he targets to help to strengthen institutions and make them more functional.

However, Abiante’s seat at national Assembly was nullified by the Appeal Court sitting at Portharcourt in 2015.
Unfortunately also, his 78 years old mother, Madam Mabel Dagomie Abiante, was kidnapped at Ngo Town, Andoni local government, Rivers state in December 2015.
