Biography of Emerengwa Sunday Boniface

Emerengwa Sunday Boniface
Hon. Emerengwa Sunday Boniface was born in 1960. He is an
indigene of Rivers State. He is a member of the Federal House of Representatives, representing the Ikwerre/ Emohua Federal constituency of Rivers State under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He attended Akpor Grammar School,Portharcourt where he obtained his West Africa School Certificate(WASC) in 1979. He proceeded to the University of Ibadan where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Law in 1985. He was subsequently called to the Nigerian Bar.

Prior to becoming a member of the house of representative, he was the Managing Counsel of Igwuru Chambers. He was later elected as a Councilor in the then Ikwerre/Etche Local Government Council, he was Secretary of Ikwerre Local Government Area, he was elected a member of the River State House of Assembly under the UNCP under the aborted 4th republic.  He later contested for Local Government Chairman in Ikwerre Local Government Council and won in 1999. He was later appointed the Commissioner for Budget in 2007.

In the 2015 elections, he contested for a seat in the Federal House of Representatives to represent Ikwerre/ Emohua federal Constituency and won.

It is worthy to note that he has as his Legislative Interests sponsoring of bills for the improvement of neglected oil producing communities in Nigeria.

He is also the recipient  of the award of best performing Local Government Chairman from 1999 to 2000.
