Biography of Toby Okechukwu

Toby Okechukwu is a member of the Federal House of Representatives of the National Assembly (2011-2015) who represents the people Aninri / Awgu / Oji River Federal constituency of Enugu State on the platform of the People's
Democratic Party (PDP), born Born on August 3, 1962 in the family of late Chief and Mrs. AC Okechukwu of Ugbo in Awgu local government, Enugu State.

He attended Community Primary School, Ngene-Ugbo, Enugu State, where he graduated in 1976, he proceeded to St. Vincent High School, Agbogugu, Enugu State (1976-1981). He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and literature at the University of Calabar (1982-1986). He obtained PGA and an MBA from the then Anambra State University of Technology (1988-1991). He got Bachelor of Laws from the University of Lagos (1994 -2000) and the Faculty of Law BL from the Nigerian Law School in (2001).

Before his election to the 7th National Assembly, Hon. Toby worked at the numerous construction companies including: The Fung Tai Engineering Co. Ltd, where he was the Business Development Manager (1991-1995), General Manager, Administration (1995-2000), at the Tovic & P Limited; he became the managing director (2001-2007). Hon Toby was the Special Adviser for the economy to  the  Deputy President of the Senate (2007-2011) and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the National Lottery Trust Fund (2008-2010).

His Committee membership covers all appropriations committees, works, Trial, agriculture, sports, steel, FERMA, Pensions and he was also part of the Adhoc Committee to investigate the near collapse of the Nigerian capital market. He is the Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Ethics and Privileges, Standing Committee of the House of Representatives.

Toby Okechukwu has participated in many conferences, training courses and certification in international forums, including the Conference of State Legislators in Chicago, Johns Hopkins University and the London School of Economics, etc.

He is happily married to Mrs Lilian Uche Okechukwu and they are both blessed with children.
