Biography Of Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah
Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah, popularly called Uche Ogah was born on December 22, 1969 to Chief Wilson and Ezinne Pauline Ogah, both of Onuaku Uturu, Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia State. He is the President of Masters Energy Group.

Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah is a child of destiny. Born to a Sanitary Inspector and retired Railway Staff, Late Mr. Wilson and Ezinne Paulina Ogah, he did not have a rosy beginning; but as a child of destiny, he set out to achieve the high goals he set for himself. He grew up like every other child of his age in the village and lived a normal village life like every other child born under same circumstance. He was not born with either golden or silver spoon in his mouth. This then means that he did not have a rosy childhood and could not experience most of the good things he would have wanted. As the son of a sanitary inspector, he sometimes followed his late father about in the discharge of his duties and this inculcated in him profound sense of duty and dignity of labour. Virtues that still guide him.
Dr. Ogah had his secondary education at Ishiagu High School, after which he worked at West African Examination Council (WAEC) from the year 1986 to 1989. He attended Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu where he obtained Upper Credit at ordinary National Diploma (OND) in 1992. In 1995, he graduated with Distinction at the Higher National Diploma (HND) Level in Accounting from IMT, Enugu.

Due to his unquenchable appetite for intellectual empowerment, Uche Ogah also attended University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) where he obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in the year 2005. He equally attended Ogun State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree (Bsc.) in Banking and Finance in the year 2004. He also holds Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA) which he obtained from University of Lagos in 2006.

Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah obtained his ACA in 2007. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Member, Chartered Institute of Bankers, Fellow, Institute of Brand Management of Nigeria and Fellow, Nigerian Institute of Shipping.


Uche Ogah was a consummate banker of distinction. He put in 10 years in the banking industry. His long journey in the banking sector started with his National Youth Service at NAL Bank PLC. Thereafter, he took up full employment at All States Trust Bank and spent about two years in the bank before moving on. From All states Trust Bank, he joined Zenith Bank in the year 1997, a bank he worked and spent his banking career until he voluntarily resigned in the year 2007. As a banker, Uche Ogah excelled in his career as he became a model of performance par excellence. He was never found wanting in the discharge of his duties and he has many commendations and awards as proof of his diligence and high performance. His meteoric rise even above his bosses made him a shining example of studiousness and an inspiration to others. It showed that any man can excel even breaking the Glass Ceiling if determined to do so. He rose to the position of an Assistant General Manager (AGM) in Zenith bank before his resignation.

Attaining that position in Zenith was not easy because of the talents that abound in the bank and high expectation of the management from every employee. He set a record of growing a new branch from zero balance sheet to over N9B before resigning. The name Uche Sampson Ogah is still a household name in Zenith Bank long after he left the organization.

There is no doubt that Uche is by every means a highly successful man in business. He seems to have the midas touch as everything he touches turned into gold. He did not resign from Zenith because he was in lack or unfulfilled. He left the bank because he
wanted to fulfill a desire and passion he has always had i.e. entrepreneurship. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah had always wanted to be an entrepreneur, to take his destiny in his hand and see how
he can positively affect human lives and society. He had always wanted to be identified with personal achievement and leave a long lasting influence on people.

It is in the areas of business and philanthropy that Uche has made the greatest landmark. Today, he is a very successful entrepreneur. He is a silent operator and businessman with a heart of gold. He is a great entrepreneur. A great manager of human and material resources, his business empire stand as collective monument of his tireless service to humanity and contribution to human development.

Uche is the President, Masters Energy Group, a well diversified Group which has business tentacles spread across Oil & Gas, Banking, Construction, Security, Insurance, Gas, Aviation, Energy, Shipping, Commodity, Fabrication e.t.c. All these businesses are growing concerns and doing very well in their respective sectors.

Often admired for his strong sense of humility, vision, self service, generosity, tact and diplomacy, Dr. Ogah has steered the affairs of his business empire from its humble beginning to its present Olympian height. He has demonstrated his zeal, rugged determination to succeed, wisdom, discipline and managerial expertise. From a humble beginning in 2005, and involved in the simple marketing of petroleum products, Masters Energy Oil and Gas Limited has grown into a conglomerate with investments worth tens of billions of Naira.

It is in the areas of business and positive contribution to society that Uche Ogah has made the greatest landmark. He is a very successful entrepreneur and businessman with a heart of gold. His belief in the Nigerian economy is strong and unequivocal. This belief informed his decision to make an investment (Masters Energy City) worth tens of billions of Naira in Port Harcourt at a time when most companies were running away from Niger Delta region because of security challenges. That single investment, a 158,000 Metric Tonnes petroleum products storage facility, has helped in no small measure in the stabilization of petroleum products availability and affordability in the whole of South-South, South-East and North-East and provided direct employment to over 600 citizens of the Niger Delta region in the spirit of Federal Government’s rehabilitation programme and over 4,000 ancillary employments. 

Within the confines of Masters Energy City lies a Multi- Million Naira Fabrication Yard, established in 2010 with primary interest and responsibility of fabricating and construction of equipment for use not only in the oil and gas industry but also beyond the sector. As at today, the Fabrication Yard had constructed two different 1,000 MT capacity Barges and is presently constructing additional three barges.

Very importantly too, the company’s over 60 retail outlets all over Nigeria sells petrol at government’s approved pump price while the depot in Port Harcourt also sells at government’s approved depot price.

In December 2011, the Executive Governor of Abia State, His Excellency, Chief Theodore A. Orji, laid the foundation stone of Masters Energy Industrial City in Isikwuato Local Government for various projects. This multi-billion naira integrated industrial complex on completion is expected to grow the economy of Abia State because of the high number of businesses it would attract from across the African continent.

Already about 7 companies are springing up within Masters Energy Industrial City in Abia State. These companies include: Fertilizer Plant, Plastic Plant, Lubricant Plants producing five product lines; Engine Oil, Grease, Hydraulic, Transmission Oil, and Gear Oil, Noodles Plant, Steel Plant (which produces pipe for offshore drilling and mechanized palm oil production plants. All these plants are about 72 percent completion. The products of these companies will contribute in no small way to the economic development of Nigeria and West African States; in addition to creation of jobs for the unemployed. Masters Energy Group is projected to have over 42, 000 in its workforce by the year of 2014.
Humanitarianism & Philanthropy

Dr. Uchechukwu Ogah stands like a colossus in the area of philanthropy. He had also sponsored free medical services in different parts of Nigeria. This is in addition to building and equipping many modern hospitals in different communities in Nigeria where his business is located. He has equally offered scholarships to both primary and secondary students across Nigeria since 2006. Dr. Ogah has also partnered with different medical centres like Hopeville Rehabilitation Centre, for fabrication of Prosthetesis (Artifical limbs) or Orthosis (Calipers) for so many disabled persons. These are in addition to sponsoring many people to India for various medical issues.

The humanitarian and philanthropic disposition of Uche was taken to a higher level when he established a foundation in December 2011, the Uche Ogah Foundation which is primarily for empowerment, poverty alleviation and providing education and has empowered many in their various fields. He also instituted a chair at the Abia State University and is building an 5,000 capacity auditorium in the same university.


Uche Ogah was the Peoples Democratic Party's (PDP) gubernatorial candidate for Abia State in the party's primary election held on December 8, 2014.

On June 27, 2016, Uche Oga was declare governor of Abia State by the the federal high court Abuja, however, the incumbent governor appealed the judgement.The Federal High Court had ruled that based on the fake tax returns he presented during the primaries, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, the incumbent governor was never qualified to run in the primaries and thus, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to cede the certificate of return to the running mate of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia state as he was never qualified to run for the party primaries in the People's Democratic party as a guber candidate.

The judge also ordered the Chief Judge of the state to swear in, Uche Ogah, his running mate in the Decmeber 2014 gubernatorial election in state as the substantive governor of Abia state. the judge ruled that on the account of fake tax returns during the primaries, Dr. Ikpeazu was never qualified to run in the primaries.
